Fly Fishing Tuition for Wild Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout
A single handed rod is used for brown trout and rainbow trout fishing. This style of fishing is what you will find on all commercial stillwater rainbow trout fisheries and is what we use to fish for the wild brown trout on most rivers in Scotland. We also use single handed rods for salmon fishing on some of the smaller rivers and tributaries where casting your fly some distance is not really necessary.
Wild brown trout are indigenous to the UK and can be found in most lochs and rivers throughout Scotland. Rainbow trout are used by most of the commercial stillwater fisheries although there are one or two other species now being stocked in a number of fisheries. They were introduced into the UK from North America and are used because of their faster growth rate than the wild brown trout.
We can give you tuition for casting with a single handed rod in both bank fishing on a river for brown trout and bank and boat fishing on a loch or fishery, for wild brown trout and or rainbow trout. |
|
As with the salmon fly fishing lessons we will teach you how to select a trout rod and reel to suit you best and which line you should choose to use, depending on the different situations and the fishing conditions. Our one day fly fishing course is designed to give you a basic introduction on the above and how to cast with a fly rod correctly. We should have you casting a fly or even a team of flies with reasonable proficiency within just a few hours. You can choose from either bank or boat fishing for rainbows on a loch or bank fishing for brown trout or grayling on one of Scotland's finest rivers. One days tuition really isn't enough time for us to cover both methods of fishing proficiently.
Our 3 and 6 day fishing breaks with fly fishing tuition is designed to give you not only tuition on how to cast correctly but will give you an understanding of fly fishing for trout in general including which flies to use for which species, where and when and how to match the flies that may be hatching that month. Which knots to use and how to tie up a cast of flies. We will teach you the art of watercraft, reading the river or loch to assess which are the most likely places that the fish might be feeding. The differences between fishing for brown trout and rainbow trout. We will also cover the safety aspects of both boat and bank fishing. Safety is of paramount importance to us on all of our fishing trips. |
