Guided Salmon and Trout fly Fishing Trips in Scotland

3 day and 6 day guided salmon fishing holidays and vacations
with accommodation - River Tay, River Spey and River Tweed.

Outlined below is a typical 3 day salmon fishing holiday just to give you a flavour of what
we have to offer. one day salmon fishing trips with a Ghillie (Guide) are also available.

Our fishing breaks on the River Tay and Spey normally depart from Edinburgh and we can arrange to pick you up from anywhere in Edinburgh or a convenient pick up point en-route i.e. Kinross or Perth if we are fishing the River Tay additionally Pitlochry, Blair Atholl or Kingussie if we are fishing the River Spey. Alternatively if you are already staying in or within travelling distance of Grantown on Spey or Aviemore, (For the Spey) or Aberfeldy or Dunkeld (for the Tay) we can always arrange to meet you at the river each day or even for just that day, providing we are fishing these rivers on the dates you are looking to join us. Just e-mail us and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Day One- Group sizes can vary but are usually between two and six fishermen. Around 8am your guide will meet you at a pre-arranged pick-up point. (Edinburgh Hotel, Rail Station or the Airport.) Your guide will then drive you to the first fishing venue. This would normally be on the rivers Tay, Spey or the Tweed depending on the water levels and which river is fishing the best at that time.

A beautiful siver salmon caught on a group fishing trip on the Spey - For conservation reasons we tend to release nearly all of the fish we catch these days.Another salmon landed mid afternoon on the Spey - For conservation reasons we tend to release nearly all of the fish we catch these days.

While spinning is very popular and sometimes necessary, our speciality is fly fishing so let us teach you a few different casting styles including the famous Spey casting and roll casting. Remember your guide is an expert and has a wealth of local knowledge so please feel free to use him to his full extent for tuition, hints or guidance. Our guides will be only too happy to assist in any way they can.

On arrival at the river, we will set up your rods and select which flies to use. Your first day's fishing begins. Packed lunches are provided for you each day, and your first day's fishing generally ends late afternoon, your accommodation, a hot shower and an evening meal is only a short drive away.

A short break from the fishing for lunch.

Day Two...

After a hearty breakfast, we set off to the river for your second days salmon fishing. You should be familiar with the part of the river we are fishing by now and the experienced fisherman can look forward to a full days uninterrupted fishing.

For those requiring some more tuition, you will have ample time to practice what you have been taught the day before. We will always be close on hand to further your tuition or to assist in landing and releasing any fish you catch. At lunchtime we have refreshments by the river. We usually rotate pools in the afternnoon to give everyone the chance of fishing a different stretch of the river.

All of the beats have their own unique charm and beauty and most of them can easily be fished from the bank although waders are advisable. The River Spey Nr Aviemore is our most popular venue in the summer. The River Spey runs through the Cairngorms Mountains. The pools here are rich and varied and the scenery is spectacular. Fishing the main pools for salmon is our speciality but we are not adverse to casting a dry fly or buzzer over the slower moving streams for the wylie wild brown trout.

Generally our fishing day starts at 9am and finishes at 5pm. However, if you want to be up with the lark or fish a bit later in the evening it can be arranged. Have a word with your ghillie the day before.

In the evening we take the short drive back to your accommodation where you can have a shower and freshen up before coming down to select your evening meal from the varied home cooked menu.

The rest of the evening you are free to explore the area or visit one of the local bars and sample some of the finest of malt whiskies, which are distilled from the crystal clear waters of the river Spey.

Have a chat about the days events and discuss the tactics for next day. This is when we generally hear about the monster fish that just got of the hook at the net and of course, we also have no shortage of fishy stories to tell before retiring to bed.

Sampling some of fine malt whiskies produced in the Speyside area.

Day Three...

On day three you will normally be on the same river as the day before and to give you as much salmon fishing time as possible, we will put your cases in the people carrier in the morning, ready for your mid-afternoon departure. We will have you back in Edinburgh or your departure point at around 6 pm, hopefully with lots of stories to tell of the fish you landed and the ones that got away but certainly with some new friends and great memories. We can even make a video of your fishing trip for you.

A bar of silver, photgraphed and released to ensure future stocks of Spey salmon.  Taking a break from a hard days fishing.  A memorable fishing trip on the river Tay.

Our six day fishing holidays are run along similar lines. Most of our trips depart from Edinburgh but we can arrange to have you picked up and returned to any major airport in Scotland or if you are part of an organised tour with friends or family and have a few days we can also arrange to pick you up from your hotel or bed and breakfast. We can even arrange to meet you at the river if you prefer.

Our 3 day fishing holidays, depending on the time of year and which river we are fishing at that time, start from as little as £650 per person (based on a minimum of 2 anglers) and our 6 day fishing holidays start from as little as £980 per person (based on a minimum of 2 anglers). A single person supplement for accommodation would apply for any anglers travelling alone.
