The Whiteadder water is controlled and managed by the Whiteadder Angling Association which serves to promote and improve fishing on the Whiteadder and tributaries, preserve and protect the fish, Prevent poaching and illegal fishing and manage the Association funds in the interests of Angling. Every year since the formation of the W.A.A. the river has been stocked with fish, except during and immediately after the years of the second World War and more recently due to the Foot & Mouth outbreak. In 2002 the river was stocked with around 1000 Brown Trout of about 9". For many years the trout have been supplied by Welham Park Trout Farm which is in the North Yorkshire Moors and are always good fish. Many of the fish are dye marked so that the W.A.A. can get some indication of catch rates. |
