Glen Of Rothes

Glen of Rothes is situated approx 8 miles south of Elgin.

It has 6 acres of water and is set in magnificent Highland scenery in the Northeast of Scotland.

The fishery offers excellent Stillwater bank fishing for Rainbow trout, as well as for Browns, Steelheads, Blue rainbows and Brook trout. The Lochs are mainly fly-only, but there is a smaller dedicated bait loch.

The lochs are stocked on a regular basis, and daily during the summer, to ensure a steady head of fish. The average weight of each fish caught has been steady at 2lb ever since the Fishery opened in 1994 and the record for the heaviest rainbow trout stands at 16 lbs and 7 ozs

Rods, tackle, landing nets and a good selection of flies and lures are available for hire.



The water from the Fishery flows only a mile before joining the River Spey.

Facilities include a heated lodge, with toilets for the disabled, as well as a sitting area and a selection
of snacks and hot and cold drinks. Car parking is right beside the lodge, and 30 metres from the lochs.
Disabled anglers are welcome to drive right up to the edge of the water.

REFFIS/GAIA qualified instruction is also available, booking is essential.

They are open all year round and the prices are :

Knockhill Fishery

Knockhill fishery is a single loch fishery providing anglers with the opportunity to fly fish for trout while enjoying a peaceful atmosphere and scenic views within a rural green-belt location in the Royal Deeside. It is a well maintained professional fishery providing some great fishing from the beginner to the professional angler. Invercauld Estate

Invercauld Estate is Located in North East Scotland, in the heart of the Cairngorms stretching
from the Spittal of Glenshee in the south to Ben Avon in the North, and Ballater in the East.

Braemar is 60 miles west of Aberdeen on the A93 via Ballater and 50 miles North of Perth
on the A93 via Blairgowrie. The nearest airport and railway station are at Aberdeen.

The Estate offers first class salmon and sea trout fishing opportunities on the Crathie and Private Water of the River Dee in Aberdeenshire, between Crathie and Braemar, opposite Balmoral. The River flows through the ancient Caledonian Pine Forests, offering spectacular views of the forest and mountains and a good chance of seeing red and roe deer, red squirrels, otters, osprey.

Salmon and sea trout Fishing

In recent years catches of salmon and sea trout have improved with a total catch in 2002 of 99 fish.

In all there is in the region of 10 miles
of fishing, with many named pools, of
which at any time at least 30 can be fished.

The fee includes the services of a ghillie and there are a number of attractive lunch huts and plenty of parking.

Day fishing arrangements are available until the end of September and an
experienced ghillie is available. Equipment and instruction can also be provided.

Bookings are now being taken for the 2003 season with rods ranging from £200 to £650 per week.
Fishing weeks are available from March through until the end of September.

The River operates a catch and release policy as part of an important
package of conservation measures to improve the bio-diversity of the river system.

Weekly tenants are offered up to 2 sides of smoked salmon per rod for returned fish.

Midmar Stillwater Fishery

Midmar Stillwater Fishery is situated 15 miles from Aberdeen near to the village of Echt and offers 11 Acres of spring-fed water consisting of four lochs, three large fly fishing only lochs and a smaller 'any method' pond. The Lochs are stocked regularly with brown, brook and rainbow trout no smaller that 2lbs in weight with many double figure veterans waiting to be caught.

We have also reviewed our pricing structure (don't panic) to hopefully make things simpler. The full pricing details can be found on our website, a summary of the tickets can be found below. For those of you who enjoy a couple of days fishing on a weekend we have introduced a value for money 'weekender' ticket giving a discount over the cost of two separate day tickets.

River Spey

Fochabers Angling Association have double bank
fishing on approximately 1.5 miles of the river spey.

4 visitors permits are available on a daily basis,
5AM to 5PM from 11th February to 11th August.

The prices range between £10 - £65 per rod per day depending on time of year.

Reasonably priced accommodation is widely available in the area.

Ythan Valley Fisheries

Ythan Valley Fisheries is situated 2 miles west of Ellon.

It is an established 11 acre trout fishery lying in the scenic beauty and wild life of rural Aberdeenshire yet only 20 minutes from Aberdeen. The fishery had been closed for a couple of years but has now reopened under new management. The loch covers eleven acres of spring fed water and is up to twenty feet deep in some parts, making it ideal for bank and float-tube fly-fishing.

The Fishery is well stocked with quality rainbows from a minimum
2lb. well into double figures. There is also a good head of wild brown trout.

The fishing is fly only bank or float tube.

Facilities include a large heated Lodge with seated area, water & gas cooker for snacks and hot
beverages, car park and toilet. Rod hire and float tube hire is available as is a selection of flies.
