The Estate has a choice of vacation lodges suitable for families or groups looking to enjoy a memorable vacation in this beautiful and historical region of Scotland, and the world renowned Scottish hospitality. A complete range of activities are available in the Moray area including fishing, shooting, golf, walking and skiing to name just a few. The River Spey which borders the Orton Estate is undoubtably one of Scotland's finest salmon fishing rivers and the area has an abundance of excellent golf courses. Morayshire is steeped in Scottish history with numerous castles and historical sites of interest to visit. The Ancient market town of Elgin is only 8 miles away with its beautiful Cathedral, established in 1224 by Alexander II. - Ruthven Barracks near Kingussie, was captured and blown up by the Jacobites on their march to Culloden and Brodie Castle near Forres, reputed to be haunted, dates back to 1567. A vacation to Scotland wouldn't be complete if you didn't manage to visit at least one of the most famous Scotch whisky distilleries. The Orton Estate is located in the very heart of whisky country and there are over 50 distilleries hidden around the many scenic parts of Moray and Banffshire. Inverness and Loch Ness are within easy reach where you can visit Loch Ness 2000, a visitor centre with an outstanding interpretation of the ecology of Loch Ness and the history of monster-hunting. Hire a boat and go monster hunting for yourself or view Urquart Castle from the loch. There are also miles of sandy beaches around the Moray Firth coastline. Salmon and trout fishing weeks can be arranged on the estate's own prime beats on The River Spey. The beats are usually let on a weekly basis for up to six rods in total with fully catered accommodation for rods and their partners. |
