Salmon Fishing Seasons in Scotland

  

The salmon fishing seasons in Scotland vary depending on the river system. Below is a comprehensive listing for all of the main salmon fishing rivers in Scotland and their tributaries. There is no salmon fishing allowed by law on a Sunday anywhere in Scotland so the fishing week is from Monday to Saturday.

  

If your fishing trip has to be over a weekend we can take you trout fishing on the Sunday.

The big four salmon rivers in Scotland are...

  

Salmon fishing trips on the THE RIVER TAY - 15th January until the 15th of October.

  

THE DEE - 1st of February until 30th of September.

  

THE SPEY - 11th February until the 30th of September.

  

THE TWEED - 1st February until the 30th November.

  

Regional variations for all rivers in Scotland are listed below.

  

The Wild Brown Trout Season is from the 15th of March until the 6th of October.

  

Rainbow Trout
There is no closed season for rainbow trout as they are not an indigenous
species to the united kingdom and they can be fished for all year round.

A number of commercial fisheries are now staying open over the winter months
and rainbow trout fishing can be found throughout the year, weather permitting.

Pike fishing, coarse and sea fishing are also permitted all year round.

  

There is no national rod licence required in Scotland as there is in England. You only require a permit to fish on the water you are fishing on and we provide all permits required on our fishing trips.
